What prebiotic and probiotic labeling actually discloses, and what to check before you buy.
"Synbiotic" gets used loosely in supplement marketing. Here's what an honest label actually needs to show you.
Look for named prebiotic fibers with their own milligram amounts — 211mg of Chicory Root Inulin, for instance, rather than a vague "fiber blend."
A quality probiotic blend names its actual strains. SodaTide lists Bifidobacterium infantis, Clostridium butyricum and Akkermansia muciniphila by name, combined in a stated 36mg total.
When strains are combined into one blend total rather than broken out individually, you can confirm which strains are present but not their exact individual ratio — a reasonable middle ground for label transparency.
FDA-registered facility, GMP certification, and country of manufacture are all verifiable claims — a label that states them plainly is easier to trust than one that doesn't.
